Since I first heard about a bump in the NUC6i7 platform with the Skull Canyon release I was excited to get my hands on and test it, I have had the chance to work on many of the previous generations of NUC to have a solid knowledge on what to expect.
As you can see the unit I am working with is a pre production engineering sample, early June 2016. I had hoped to get one much earlier but Intel has been refining the Skull Canyon to handle the 45W CPU, a four core eight thread CPU. The CPU is a 6770HQ and it is a partly unlocked CPU, to be more exact you can only change the memory timing and speed in BIOS.
This box, packaging, inserts and contents are identical to the retail box.
